When I finished my book I realized that Delphine was affected because her mother got arrested because she was protesting for no segration and that there were many fighters and she wanted to not but be it. I learned the colored people were arrested easily if they fighted for freedom. I also learned what back panthers were. They were people who got peaceful (or not) to fight for their freedom.

I feel bad for her mother because she went to jail just because she was protesting. It doesn't matter about what skin color you have.

Ellen from "Toliver's Seceret" lived in the Revolutionary time era. This effected her because there were British soldiers everywhere, Ellen was a Patriot. Her experiences would be different if she lived in today's world because she wouldn't have to care about the British and she wouldn't even have to ship the bread to General George Washington! I learned that it was tough to be around British soldiers if you were a Patriot and that there were a lot of spies, for the British and for General Washington.

I agree because if Ellen was delivering a secret message to General Washington now, (if he was still alive,) it wouldn't be as hard because there's no British soldiers on the streets in New York now.

I think it's bad that your character couldn't be friends with his best friend because of their skin color.

The historical time period affected the main character in my story by making her face many difficult challenges in the Revolutionary War times. Ellen's experiences would be very different if she lived in the present because there are no wars happening right now (not any that I know of) and people don't need to travel to places alone and deliver secret messages.

I agree. If she lived in today's world she wouldn't be a spy and she wouldn't have to send the bread to General Washington.

I think my characters historical time period affects them because my characters is being mistreated by their skin color. I think if my characters lived in 2018 they would be treated fairly and with respect because now everyone is treated with respect. Now everyone goes to the same school and goes anywhere without being mistreated. I thing they would be happy here. From reading my book I learned that family is more important than anything else.

I agree because now there is the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which said that everyone would have the same rights.

In my book my character is mistreated too. I think that this was a very bad time in our country's history and we should remember to always be kind. Nice work!

My historical fiction book is One Crazy Summer. One historical detail in my book is the term Black Panthers. This is affecting the character because now she is starting to know the members of the Black Panthers and knows some of the history behind the group such as Bobby Hues who was the first member of the Black Panthers. The main character's little sister,Vonetta is befriending other girls at the center so she is making friends. What the main character,Delphine might not see in the present is the poor African Americans begging for money.

I now have realized that there was a lot of unfairness in the civil rights movement and they were very harsh.

The time period effects a few of my characters, Laura and Martain. It effects Martin because in his time he was a slave and if he were to live now he would be a free equally treated person. It effects Laura because in her time the fugitive slave act was a thing so if she was cought helping Martin escape she would get in trouble but, if she lived now there wouldn't even be slavery and wouldn't even be a problem for her. I learned that in this time period, when slavery was a thing that even if the slave makes the smallest mistake they still get whipped hard on the back and beaten up.

I had the segregation time period and one think that effected characters is when the watsons moved to birmingham and one character was byron that changed in the time period, he changed because he was scared in the end and thought this isnt who I am or who I want to be.

So the time period in the Watson go to Birmingham it was the year 1963. As you know this was around the time of segregation. So if the characters in my story were to live in today's world they would be confused about the way that people talk. But in the book they really played around with words. Like the word ain't, we don;t say that anymore.Something that is a very big change if they were to come was the way they would get treated around the white. Because segregation was a time were the United sates was not united. They might also find some invention fascinating.Being something like Kenny is not a good idea especially if you are a African American. Because being a person that could stand up for themselves is rough. To conclude with the characters behaviors in the story I think that time period fits it perfectly.

I agree Elaria because i also read Watson's go to Birmingham and they also were treated unkindly because at joetta's school they bombed it because they were whites and it was a colored church!!! So to sum up I agree.

I think the time period of the revalutionary war efected my main charictor (John) because there was a war going on it was a very big war. So most people sighned up and died (so many losses)

In my book, Delphine and her sisters face many challenges in my book, One Crazy Summer. Delphine has to face the fact that she and her sisters are going to live with their mother that abandoned them for a entire month. She also has to face the fact that she has to face segregation as well. If this book took place in our time period, things would be different. Delphine would be accepted in her school and the protesting group in Oakland wouldn't exist.

My book is Toliver's Secret. Ellen from Toliver's Secret was affected by the time period because there were British soldiers everywhere in New York where she lived. If she was living in New York now, there would be no British soldiers around. Something I learned about my historical time period from reading my book is that in the 1700s people needed to go to a water pump to get their water, because there was no sinks.

My time period was Segregation. It affected the main character because Kenny never knew what Bryon was doing when he had to go to Birmingham . Yes because there is no Segregation now so he would not have to go through that horrible bombing. I learned that everyone is equal and no one should be excluded.

In my book, The Watson's Go to Birmingham, the people get into a very bad situation. Two white guys bombed Joetta's church. That is different from today. It is because today, nobody cares what your skin color is. White black, anything. People don't care, they don't treat black people nicer they treat them the same. Also i learned that hey had no reaon why, they just had thoughts. I also learned that many people had to have special guard for them to go into schools. I also learned that people would bomb places and nobody would do anything.
