I learned that poetry can rhyme but it doesn't have to. I also learned that anything can be a poem. You can write a poem about anything. It has helped me be a stronger fiction reader by helping me understand stories more. Poems are harder and it makes reading fiction easier. At first I thought poems were just rhymie dont't make sense things but now I know that poems are more interesting than that. They are fun to read.

In this unit I learned that poems can rhyme and also don’t have to rhyme and also you can find a poem in songs, animals,in your house,in your school. It can also help me by being a good fiction reader by all the words they can make up helps us know that fiction is all about stuff that is not real and poems can be real and also not real.My thoughts about the poetry unit from the beginning to now is in the beginning I thought that we will just be reading poems and I did not know that much about poetry but now I know a lot about poetry and now I love reading.

I learned that in poems there are moods. I learned that poets use their poetic license to make their poem intresting. I learned that a lot of poems create a movie in your mind. I learned that not all poems have to rhyme. They coud be rhyming or freeverse. I learned that the last lines explain a lot about the whole story. When I am reading I can always think about what I am feeling. I can look at the last lines and be like ohhh that makes sense now. I can think that other authors could have poetic licenses when they put random letters and words.

Some things that I have learned was, that you can use simple objects and turn it into something meaningful like in the poem, about the onion by Naumi Shihab Nye. I also learned that poems can have mood and it is not only about shapes and rhyming, like the poetry celebration that we had in first grade. The skill about how you could use simple objects and turn it into something meaningful with a poem, that makes me think that, I can think deeper in things and it actually makes me be a better reader. I love this unit before I just thought, "Oh it is just a poem I already learned this is first grade."

One thing that I learn is that poetry could be in anything even just an ordinary object like a timer or a empty can of soup. It helps you become better as a fiction reader because it shows you how to identify mood in your stories. In the begining of the unit I thought that poems were just short funny rhyming stories but now I learned that they can also just be a poem with repetition. I also learned that poems are not suppose to be writen in normal pharagraphs it can be in coplets and more

What I learned in poetry is that poems can have all kinds of traits. I learned that poems can have moods, they can create a movie in your mind, and make ordinary things look special. Also, poets have poetic licences that allow them to make nonsense words, use no punctuation or capitals and make blobs of words. Poetry is very deep and I hope that everyone feels the same way.

In this unit I learned that poems don't have to rhyme. When they don't, they are called free verse. I used to think that all poetry had to rhyme. I also learned about poetic licences. This means that poets are allowed to play around with words and make some up without getting in trouble. Author's aren't allowed to make up or play with words when they write books. You usually only see messed up words or phrases in poetry. Not books (they might if they have poetry in them, though). That is what I learned in this unit about poetry.

This week I am researching all about Make-A-wish the place I am donating my money to. I am going on there website nj.wish.org and search about there chapter. A chapter is a group of people who run something together. When I went to the website I went up and hit the chapter. After that I started to click articles read them and got information like that the people who run the chapter are Joe and Samuel Plumeri. Also that the chapter also made up the idea to make a castle were kids could make wishes. Make-a-wish is a non profit organisation that lets kids live their dream that have life threatening diseases. I learned all about make-a-wish and it's chapter. This is important to my project because I have to know what I am donating money to. If I did not know other people that might want to buy my bookmarks might not know what make a wish is so if someone asks me what it does. I would not know and I would look unprofessional. Also if I know what make a wish is with a lot of information it can help me advertise. It will help me advertise because people who know what make a wish is they would see that the money is going to make a wish and they would buy a bookmark.wish is they would see that the money is going to make a wish and they would buy a bookmark. By two weeks I want to have emailed a letter to the head of the chapter. This is impotent because the project I am doing is getting in touch with everyone that can help me with my project so the chapter can help me get my money to make a wish and help me with future things that I will need help with. I also want to make a list of the materials that I will need for my bookmarks to just help plan out and have everything prepared.

I also learned that poems have mood and a basic structure. I learned aswell that poets take the world around them and make turn those things into a poem! I learned a lot of things from this unit that never would have thought of before. Because when I think of the word poem I think of word that are made up. But know I know that is not just that at all. There are so many cool things in poetry. Like the mood at first I thought that only people and animals are the only things that make a mood. But I thought of that because I was thinking of it the wrong way. In poem I had no idea that they use stanzas and couplets. At first I had no idea what they really meant I thought that they where another way of saying paragraphs and sentences. But that was a close guess but that was not what it was. Also learned that in poems that are free verse that they where just poems that did not rhyme. But then I learned that you could do anything that you wanted when making a poem like that. You do not need to indent or even add capital and punctuation. They could also make made up words I thought that was cool. Because in no other book or novel or anything you are able to do that. This is what make poems so special that they are so different from any other kind of book! Also in poems you are able to rhyme if you want. So in this unit I learned a lot of things that just blow my head right off. Poems and poetry are amazing!!

I have learned a lot of things in the poetry unit. First, I used to think that poetry was all boring riddles, and they would never tell you straight what they are telling you. But then I learned that they can be really fun, and free verse is actually really nice poetry once you get to know how to write it, and once you know what the deeper meaning is. If you are getting forced to write it, you won’t enjoy it, but then you will get the hang of it. And once you get the hang of it, you will actually not need to be forced to do it, you can enjoy it. It is very relaxing, and you can write about just about anything. That is how poetry feels to ME, I’m not sure about everyone else. I would like to THANK Mrs. Barry for actually introducing me to poetry. If she hadn’t, I would’ve never give poetry a chance, and I would always think of it as a boring riddle. But now i know and I probably will be writing poetry until I get out of fourth grade, and I am most probably going to be writing poetry for the rest of my life! This is what I think of about the amazing and very inspiring poetry!

It makes me become a better fiction reader because I can really pay attention on how the characters are feeling. Lastly, I learned that poems are written in stanzas and couplets. They are some ways to organize your writing. At first, I didn't like poetry at all. Now I feel different. I really understand poetry. It's fun to write it. It's a way to share your thoughts. Another thing I learned was that there are many structures of poetry. One structure is a stanza. Another one is couplets. The last one is free verse Those are the three structures. The last thing I learned was that poets have a poetic licence. That can make them make up word, mismatch words and much more. That is three things i learned. These skills can help me be a strong fiction reader because if i know how to paint a picture in my mind, then i will be better a visualizing. My thought changed about poetry because in the beginning i did not know that a poet has a poetic licence. It also changed because in the beginning i thought i could never write poetry. B That is how my thoughts changed about poetry.

I learned that poems can have moods. Some moods that poems might have are peaceful, happy or even sad. I also learned that poets have poetic licences, that they can use to mix up words. Mood can also help us when we are reading fiction books, because our fiction books can have moods too, and very similar moods to the moods of poetry. My thoughts in the beginning of the unit were, I don't know if I am going to enjoy this unit, but now by the end I am enjoying this unit.

I have learned a lot about poetry this unit! I have learned that poetry shows how you feel. I have wrote many poems based on things that happened in my life. Now I really love writing poetry. It helps me be a stronger fiction reader so you can understand what the author is trying to say. In other words, you know what the author is feeling because you are kind of an author too. That means you will know what the author feels. Like, you are connected, so you could understand. My poetry changed from the beginning to the end because before I didn't know what to write about and how poetry works. In the end I wrote so many poems, rhyming poems, free write poems, and more! Now I love poems!

I have learned many knew things in poetry. One thing that I learned is that when peots sit down to write a poem they can make it about anything! Like the oninon poem by Naumi Shihab Nye. Who would ever think of writing an awsome poem like that! This helps me think of what to write more because before I had trouble thinking of what to write. I also learned that in poem can seem boring at first but after reading it more and more you really can understand the meaning of it. Now, I really understand how to write and read a poem.

I learned poetry can rhyme. I also learned poetry can be free verse. Last they could also have a mood. Skills could help by telling me if I find a free verse poem if I did not know I would think what kind of poem is this. The mood is important because you could think deeper of what the poem is really about my thoughts about poetry turn to boring to fun.

I like that there are free verse poems because I have trouble rhyming and don't like to search for words which rhyme . It has helped me be a strong reader because it has helped me with imagery and it makes me think about an object deeply. In the beginning I thought that poetry would be hard and now I feel that it is a lot easier than I previously thought .

I loved this unit so much! I would have never thought poetry was so interesting. Here are some things I learned in this unit. I learned how to see through a poets eyes, how to find the mood of the poem, how to picture it in my head, etc. The picturing in my head really helped me understand more about the book. The mood helped me learn more about how the author wanted the poem to be expressed. Also seeing through a poets eyes helped me see something that I really did not appreciate become into something big and special. I also liked seeing how different poets like to write their poems. I love poetry but at the beginning of the unit I did not think there was so much important things about poetry. But know I can see poetry in a whole different perspective. I really enjoyed learning about poetry.

In this poetry unit I learned a lot. I learned that poets have something called a Poetic License. It means that they can play around with words and make really cool poems! I also learned about couplets and stanzas. In Fog the poet used a couplet and a stanza. Poems can also be in free verse. At first I thought poems only rhyme but not all poems have to. They can tell stories, make pictures in your mind, show feelings, and give a lesson. At first I didn't know much about poetry. But then once we learned a lot I can understand poems better. We've learned a lot.

I learned that poetry doesn't always have to be rhyming. I learned that in rhyming poetry, the last word on the end of a line always has to rhyme to the next word on the next line. These skills can help me by letting me how to read a poem. In the beginning, I thought poetry had to be rhyming. Now I learned that there in free verse poetry. I write better free verse poetry than rhyming poetry.

I learned a lot in the poetry unit. One thing I learned is that there are all different types of poetry. Poetry helped me become a better reader because in some books there is a rhythm and in poetry there is. In the beginning of the unit I thought poetry was only about rhyming. Then in the end of the unit I know that there are all different types of poems
