Good job! I didn't know that hokey was made in 1777, that is a surprising fact. What did you find hard while researching or typing (doing the progress )

My topic was Portugal. Portugal is a small country in Europe. I learned a lot of things about my topic, like that Portugal and Spain were the first ones to bring slaves to America. ( This was long before England knew the earth was round.) I also learned that Portugal has a famous art called azulejo, an azulejo is a white and blue tile wall painting.

My nonfiction topic is Bats. Some advice I would give someone is don't look at somebody's else's work and say that your book is worse then their's because you have to believe in yourself as you write. I learned to be more specific explaining a hard word. One thing that was tricky for me is the introduction because I don't know how to fully hook the character. I really enjoyed this project and I hope to do more.

I did my research project on World War II. Some advice I would give to someone is to think of a smaller topic. I like WWII but it was hard to decide what to write about and what not to write about. The next time I would write about something smaller like the Battle of Stalingrad.

My topic is penguins. For advice, I would say that this type of writing is hard, like when you have to have headings and subheading and things like that, but it can also be really fun, like when you're researching and adding text features. One thing that I didn't know is how to do the introduction. One thing that was hard for me was thinking of subheadings.

My topic was the Olympics, I learned a lot about my topic, a few things I learned was that in the Olympics women were not allowed to compete until the 1900's. I also learned that the Olympics started all with Zeus mother, Rhea and that the Greek people started the Olympics. Some advice I would give them if they have such short time, is to use google and research what you want, to do this they might not need to read that much even if you are looking for one thing in particular. One of the trickiest thing for me was to use domain specific language and look for it. One thing I learned to do better is to add captions and how to make domain specific language in sentences.

I have learned a lot more about dogs. Before, I kind of knew a little about dogs already. A few things I have learned: More about their teeth, Their different breeds, their fur, their family, and how they can connect to NJ.
Reply
My topic is Dogs. I know a lot about dogs. But i know i need to do a lot more of research, even if it does seem like i know a lot, i probably don't. Even Scientist's don't know everything. And they know a lot more than i do. I have found a lot of fun facts, though that i never knew about before. My favorite fact that i included in my book was that dogs and a lot of other animals have a organ called Jacobsans Organ. This Organ helps dogs taste the thing that they are smelling. But they can only use this Organ if they are smelling something with their MOUTHS OPEN. I included this in my book, in a "FUN FACT!" box. tips i would give to people researching dogs for the first time is that even though it may seem like you know a lot about dogs, there's always a chance that you will learn something new. You NEED to research, even if you think that you "wont find anything new." Nothing in my dogs topic, chapters, were hard to find, because dogs are a very common things that people write, and talk about. That's why it was easy for me to make up chapters and find information for them.

THIS IS THE BEST WRITING UNIT EVER!!!!! I love writing non-fiction, and share it with everybody! I would like to ask them what they learned after when they are done reading my book. I learned that the Amazon river is actually the second longest river in the world. it was not tricky.... to me, it was kinda fun. I just feel pretty hyper when we are doing something fun. BEST!!!!

My topic was Gymnastics. I learned a lot of things about my topic. I first learned domain specific language like dismount, mount, run-up, and more. I also learned a ton of stuff for my different chapters. Did you know that Laurie Hernandez was born in New Jersey? I didn't. I also learned things when I was writing my book like how to do fact boxes, how to organize my writing, and much more. One thing that was tricky was finding domain specific language. At first, I only had two. Then, once I started to gather more information. I got more domain specific language. I think I should've searched on the internet more because I got good information from there. I think this unit was really fun!!!

I have learned a lot throughout this unit. My topic was pandas. My advice for someone who is just starting a research project is be patient. In the end, you'll do great! what I learned to do better is to be specific when researching. If I wanted to know how pandas were becoming endangered, I would not just type, pandas, I would type How are pandas becoming endangered? Some thing that was tricky for me is getting the just right info, or else it'll be off topic. Overall, I think this unit was a great way of learning new things.

My topic was roller coasters. I learned a lot in this unit for example, I learned how to do headings and subheadings, and how to do chapters. I also learned a lot of new stuff about my topic like how there is such thing as a shuttle coaster, and there is such thing as a flying coaster. Before I researched my topic I barely even knew anything about roller coasters. After writing this story now I feel like I can go on even scarier roller coasters then I go on now.
Reply
I think Roller Coasters are cool and unique topics to research. And did you learn if people have ever died on a Roller. Coaster? That would be REALLY bad. Also, how safe can the wooden Roller Coaster be. Can’t the wooden ones break when there is too much weight on it?

I learned about the revolutionary war I thought the coolest thing was that king George the lll loved the colonist and the only reason why he was taking money from them was because he had to pay for the war that he fought and that was a lot of money. Also George Washington was going to be in the British army good thing that did not happen.

One thing that is you have to read different articles. If the articles you read and it kept on saying the same facts that means that fact is true. The advice is if you are studying about Alaskan Malamutes you should list examples of examples what Alaskan Malamutes do. I learned how to do my introduction and have to add subtitles. The tricky part was you had to find pictures that you want because not many people posted the thing I want. So I had to put more information so a picture could pop up.

My topic is about the near planets. One thing that I learn is that the near planets all have different things about such as their attributes. Also I learned that a year on Mercury is shorter than a day on Mercury. The reason why a day is longer than a year is because Mercury goes rotates slowly but goes around the sun fast. One thing I would tell a beginner is that use text feature and text structure. One thing that was tricks was trying to use a every text structure.

I LOVED THIS UNIT!!!!!!!!! It was so fun because I got to write about my favorite animal and thing which is Killer whales!!!!! Did you know that Killer whales sleep with half of their brain sleeping and the other half controlling were they are swimming? Amazing Right?!?!? I thought that was pretty cool. I also got to share how I feel about Killer whales being held in captivity just to perform shows. I hope when the people like you read my book, I hope you can feel how I feel about Killer whales I captivity. Some adivice that I would give someone who just started a research project is just to push yourself on your thinking and have fun! (just not to much fun that you get nothing done) Bye!

In this informational writing unit, I learned a lot about Ellis Island. Before researching this topic, I didn't know that Ellis Island was used as a place to treat wounded soldiers at a hospital, a place to store weapon, and a place to train soldiers for World War l and World War ll. If I were to give advice to a person that is researching my topic, I would tell them you should include lots of the interesting details. Personally, I think that the Jersey Twist was a little difficult to write. In conclusion, Ellis Island helped America gain many cultures from all over the world.
